Mary G. Pahmiyer,
mother of Clarence Gerke, President of Memorial Oaks Chapel, Inc., Brenham, TX, and Past President of Selected Independent Funeral Homes, 2003, died August 31. Mrs. Pahmiyer also is also survived by her husband, August; another son, Floyd; and three daughters, Dorothy Mae Moon, Mary Lou Kenjura and Janet Barnett.

Elizabeth L. Stith,
mother of Mary S. Hamlin, President of Stith Funeral Home, Danville, KY, died August 26. Mrs. Stith also is survived by two other daughters, Elizabeth and Ann.

Herman C. Schueneman,
father of Mark H.Schueneman, President of Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Inc., Kewanee, IL, died August 8. Mr. Schueneman also is survived by his wife, Jean, and another son, Robert F.

G. Book Roth,
namesake in Hoffman-Roth Funeral and Crematory, Inc., Carlisle, PA, died July 28. He is survived by his wife, Arlene, and four children.

Dorothy M. Rogers,
mother of Stonewall Ponders, President of Ponders Funeral Homes, Inc., Dalton, GA, died July 24.

Mary Smith,
mother of Frank R. Smith, President of Frank E. Smith Funeral Home, Inc., Lancaster, OH, died July 21. She also is survived by her husband, Irvine, and son, David.

Lucille P. Roberts,
former Secretary/Treasurer of Knowlton & Hewins, Inc., Augusta, ME, died July 20. She is survived by a son, Terry; a granddaughter, Lynn Roberts Reed, President of the firm; and a grandson, Leon Roberts, Vice President.

Robert S. Schoedinger,
Chairman Emeritus of Schoedinger & Company, Columbus, OH, died July 18. He was preceded in death by his wife, Suzanne, and brothers George R. Schoedinger Jr. and John F. Schoedinger. He is survived by brother William O. Schoedinger; two daughters, Suzanne Ellis and Sara Buchsieb; and grandsons, Robert Schoedinger, Geoffrey Schoedinger, Eric Ellis and Daniel Buchsieb.

Marion D. Williams,
Owner of Willliams Funeral Directors, Garland, TX, died July 14. He is survived by his wife, Juanita, and two sons, D. Cecil and J. Kyle Williams, Co-Owners of the firm.

Capt. William K. Mauldin,
husband of Margot Juette Mauldin, now Mrs. Alfred Burgess Robinson of Robinson Funeral Home, Inc., Easley, SC, died February 21, 1952 in North Korea. Captain Mauldin was in the United States Air Force, having served in Germany during World War II and in the Korean Conflict. In 1993, through cooperative efforts between North Korea and The United Nations, 33 coffins containing unidentified remains reportedly belonging to U.S. servicemen listed as unaccounted for were turned over. Captain Mauldin's remains were positively identified on February 11, 2008, after many years of scientific analysis. He also is survived by one daughter, Corinne Margot Mauldin, and two grandchildren. His son, William K. Mauldin II, died in 1985.

William B. Howe,
former owner of Howe Mortuary, Inc., Longmont, CO, died June 22. He wa preceded in death recently by his brother and co-owner, George Howe. Mr. Howe is survived by his wife, Amy, and a nephew, Geoffrey W., President of the firm.

Carlin G. Maberry,
President of Maberry Funeral Home, Inc., Floyd, VA, died June 21. He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann, and two daughters, Mitzi Roberson, Secretary-Treasurer of the firm, and Ann Phillips.

E. Ruth Bibber,
former Secretary-Treasurer of Bibber Memorial Chapel, Kennebunk, ME, died June 7. She is the step-mother of Richard V. Bibber, President of the firm. She also is survived by a daughter, Martha B. Schmidt.

Ronald F. Bradshaw,
President of Bradshaw-Carter Memorial & Funeral Services, Houston, TX, died June 2. He is survived by his life partner, Michael (Tripp) Carter, owner of the firm.

George W. Howe,
former owner/president of Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services, Longmont, CO, died May 2. He is survived by his wife, Jean, and four sons, Geoffrey, President of the firm, Bradley, Blake and Mark Howe.

Bobbie Jo Shackelford,
Co-Owner with her husband, Robert P. Shackelford, Jr., of The Shackelford Corporation, Savannah, TN, died May 1. She also is survived by a son, Robert P. Shackelford, III; and a daughter, Lisa Shackelford, Thomas, also co-owners of the firm.

Janet Gerke,
wife of Clarence Gerke, Past President of Selected Independent Funeral Homes (2003-2004), and co-owner with her husband of Memorial Oaks Chapel, Inc., Brenham, Texas, died suddenly April 28. She also is survived by a son, Chad, and a daughter, Melissa Lyons.

Henrietta G. Langeland,
widow of the former owner, Marvin H. Langeland of Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Kalamazoo, MI, died April 19. Mrs. Langeland also is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Van Gunst; grandson, Tod Langeland, Secretary-Treasurer of the firm; and nephew Norman Langeland, President.

John L. Penny,
husband of Lucille Penny, former administrative assistant at Selected's Headquarters office, died April 11 after a long illness. Mr. Penny also is survived by three children, Cathy, Steve and John; and eight grandchildren.

Virginia Gibbs,
mother of Dr. Kelsey Gibbs, CEO of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home, Paris, Texas, died March 29.

Judith Seawell,
mother-in-law of Adam B. Robinson, Jr., President of Ralph Robinson & Son, Inc., Pine
Bluff, AR, and mother of Anne Seawell Robinson, Treasurer of the firm, died March 28. Judith Temple Alexander Seawell also is survived by grandson A. Scott Robinson, Vice-President of the firm.

Virginia Stern,
mother of David M. Stern, President of Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors, Albany, GA, died March 19. She also is survived by two other sons, Eric L. and Henry B.

Samuel C. Metcalf,
father of Samuel H. Metcalf, President of Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Service, Grand Rapids, MI, died March 12. Mr. Metcalf served on the Board of Directors of National Selected Morticians from 1965-68. He also is survived by his wife, Marion; another son, William; and a daughter, Marilyn Leigh.

Zebedee Massey,
son of Conor and Anya Massey, Patrick Massey Ltd., Dublin, Ireland, died suddenly March 2. He lived in Melbourne, Australia, with his wife, Sarah, and children, Harper and River. He also is survived by brothers, Angus, Jeremy and Paddy; and sisters, Alyanya and Samantha.

Lawrence W. Pauli, III,
son of Betty and Lawrence W. "Lance" Pauli, Jr., Owner of Harden-Pauli Funeral Home, Eustis, FL, was killed in an automobile accident February 28. He also is survived by his wife, Cyndi; daughter, Salem; son, Malachi; and brother, Jonathon.

brother of Sue Bachman and brother-in-law of Fred Bachman, President of Bachman Hebble Funeral Service, Inc., Battle Creek, MI, died February 21.

Jeannie Bliley,
wife of Norbert M. Bliley, Secretary-Treasurer of Joseph W. Bliley Company, Inc., Richmond, VA, died February 14. Mrs. Bliley also is survived by a son, M. Carey Bliley, funeral director with the firm.

William M. Goldfinch, Jr.,
Co-Manager of Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway, SC, died February 13. "Mac" Goldfinch is survived by a son, Stephen L., and two daughters, NellaRuth Snipes and Page Maxwell.

Jill G. Baue,
mother of Lisa A. Baue, President of Baue Funeral Home Co., St. Charles, MO, died February 12. Mrs. Baue also is survived by sons Mark G. and D. Paul Baue.

Rabun O. Smith,
General Manager of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory, Warner Robins, GA, died January 31. He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Harris.

Barbara McDonald,
wife of Richard L. McDonald, Owner/Supervisor of McDonald-Linn Funeral Home, Avalon, PA, died January 30. She also is survived by a son Douglas, and a daughter, Jaime McDonald.

Charles F. Keraga,
of KC Associates Architects, a consultant in Selected Resources’ Management Assistance Program, died suddenly January 25. “Chuck” is survived by his wife, Joyce; three sons, Charles, Chad and Cody; and two daughters, Clarissa and Celina Marie.

Carleen M. Castille,
former president of Martin & Castille Funeral Home, Lafayette, LA, died January 17. She is survived by two daughters, Melanie Davis and Sarah Manuel; and brother Wes Castille, President of the firm.

Hope G. Harris,
wife of Robert A. Harris, former owner of Harris-Mountain Funeral Home Inc., Coatesville, PA, died January 9.

Eva F. Beane,
wife of Donald F. Beane, NSM Board Member from 1980 to 1983 and mother of Russell J. Beane, President of Wilkinson-Beane, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Laconia, NH, died January 5. Mrs. Beane also is survived by two sons, Dr. Dana F. Beane and Gary D. Beane.

Delmer Hunter,
retired owner of Allnutt Funeral Service, Loveland, CO, died January 4. He is survived by two sons, Douglas and Delmer E., III; a stepson, Michael Curtis; and a step-daughter, Mary Kimberly Kuxhausen.

James T. Morriss, V,
President/Owner of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Petersburg, VA, died January 4. He is survived by his wife, Ann; a son, J. Tolleison Morriss, VI, Secretary of the firm; and a daughter, Meredith Matthews.

Past Chairman of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Home, Pine Bluff, AR, died December 24. He is survived by two sons, Adam B. Robinson, Jr., President of the firm, and Spencer E. Robinson; a daughter, Dr. Margaret Robinson Rutherford; and five grandchildren.

Jean C. Groff,
mother of R. Fred Groff, III, President of Groff-High-Eckenroth Funeral Home, Inc., New Holland, PA., died December 19. Mrs. Groff also is survived by two other sons, Sanford H. and David W.; and a daughter, Lisa Groff.

Muriel G. Fournier,

Rose Mary DeGrow,
mother of Gloria Mitchell, wife of John W. Mitchell, Sr., CEO of Staffan Mitchell Funeral Home, Chelsea, MI, died on November 29. Mrs. DeGrow also is survived by her grandchildren, John W. Mitchell II, President of the firm; Michael D. Mitchell, Vice President; and Amy Mitchell Wickman.

Lucille T. Lyon,
mother of Brenda Lyon Gardiner, wife of Michael K. Gardiner, Sr., President of Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD, and Past Board Member of Selected Independent Funeral Homes, died November 8 after a long illness. Mrs. Lyon also is survived by sons Albert Lyon, Sr., and John Lyon; daughters Kathy Lawrence and Angela Long ; and sister Lillian Anderson.

Patrick T. Perinchief,
son of David T. Perinchief, President of Perinchief Chapels, Mt. Holly, NJ, died suddenly October 29. Mr. Perinchief also is survived by his wife, Jacquelyn; two children, David Joseph and Delaney Elizabeth; his mother, Maureen; and two sisters, Kerri Iorfino and Alison Reinhard.

Robert B. Beadles,
